Ntokoza Thonga gets MVP of the Week award for South African WBNL (by Hoops Agents)

Ntokoza Thonga put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Soweto Panthers and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The had a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds, while her team beat Rhinos (#5, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 53-48. It allowed Panthers to jump to the first place in the South African WBNL. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Panthers won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Thonga had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. She just recently signed at Panthers and it was her first game, where she immediately became new team's leader. Thonga has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 15.0rpg) and averages solid 6.0spg and 57.1% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Sthando Gaula of second-ranked Tshwane Suns. Gaula impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Of course she led Suns to another comfortable win outscoring Rhinos (0-2) 113-33. Her team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Gaula is one of the most experienced players at Suns and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.0ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 10.0rpg and 4.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was another Suns' star - Josefina Gomes. Gomes scored 22 points. She was another key player of Tshwane Suns, helping her team with a 113-33 easy win against Rhinos (#5, 0-2). Suns has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Gomes also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Gomes as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be another team's leader.
