WBNL Round 11 (Regular Season): Soweto P. win their first game

Soweto P. can celebrate finally their first win this season after two consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Rhinos (0-4) 53-41 on Sunday. Soweto P. held M.Rhinos to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 20.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Soweto P. forced 40 M.Rhinos turnovers and outrebounded them 83-61 including a 41-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Lindokuhle Nkabini who scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Londeka Gumede chipped in 4 points and 17 rebounds. Soweto P.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tjabuya Ndlovu produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the guests. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Soweto P. (1-2) left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with NW Eagles. It was M.Rhinos' fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Soweto P. is looking forward to face NW Eagles (#4) in Potchefstroom in the next round. M.Rhinos will have a break next round.

WC Mountaineers' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Anele Chitlango answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for M.Rhinos. Defending champion maintains third place with 2-1 record behind leader MBB. M.Rhinos at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. WC Mountaineers will play against league's leader MBB in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. M.Rhinos will have a break next round.

WC Mountaineers forced 68 M.Rhinos turnovers and outrebounded them 77-42 including a 44-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. WC Mountaineers players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by M.Rhinos' players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks.
