Fatimah Chiliza gets MVP of the Week award for South African WBNL

Fatimah Chiliza put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Free State Warriors and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, while her team beat KZ Marlins (#4, 1-2) 60-55. It allowed FS Warriors to consolidate first place in the South African WBNL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. FS Warriors has a very solid 3-1 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. It's Chiliza's second year at FS Warriors and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Chiliza has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in assists (5th best: 4.3apg) and averages solid 3.0spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Zanefa Shabalala of Kwa-Zulu Marlins. Shabalala impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as KZ Marlins lost that game 55-60 to the higher-ranked FS Warriors (#1, 3-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group B. KZ Marlins still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 1-2 record. Shabalala is one of the most experienced players at KZ Marlins and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.0ppg (#6). She also registered 7.7 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another KZ Marlins' star - Silindile Shange. Shange scored 12 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (!!!). Despite Shange's great performance the Kwa-Zulu Marlins lost 55-60 to #1 ranked FS Warriors. But her team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of KZ Marlins not to end season at such low position in Group B, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victory. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Shange could try to bring KZ Marlins' a little bit higher in the standings. Shange has individually a great season in South Africa. After only 3 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.7rpg (5th best).
