EC Windbreakers - NC Zebras 47-55 Rather expected game in Johannesburg where bottom-ranked Windbreakers (0-5) were defeated by fourth ranked NC Zebras (2-3) 55-47 on Sunday. NC Zebras held Windbreakers to an opponent 24.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 25.0 percent accuracy of the winners. NC Zebras forced 24 Windbreakers turnovers. The best player for the winners was Ilunga Mbula who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds. Mamotsoari Mofokeng chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Tshepo Mokua produced 18 points and 4 assists and Keatlegile Ramorwesi added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. NC Zebras maintains fourth place with 2-3 record, which they share with M.Rhinos. Loser Windbreakers still closes the standings with five games lost. NC Zebras will meet at home league's leader Tshwane S. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Windbreakers will play against Rhinos (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory. (4-1) 77-41. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of NC Zebras. Tshwane S. held NC Zebras to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Tshwane S. forced 33 NC Zebras turnovers and outrebounded them 53-39 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by NC Zebras' players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Pumla Sathula (175-1984, college: Hamilton) who led the winners and scored 7 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Charmaine Amoda accounted for 6 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winning side. Tshwane S.'s coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. NC Zebras maintains fourth place with 2-3 record, which they share with M.Rhinos. Tshwane S. smashed bottom-ranked Windbreakers at home 70-41. Tshwane S. dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Windbreakers' 22. Tshwane S. forced 40 Windbreakers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Windbreakers' players. It was a great evening for Zimbabwean swingman Fadzai Mabasa (170-1983) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds. The best player for the winners was Rachel Ngona who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. Nocwaka Luke chipped in 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Tshepo Mokua produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and Keatlegile Ramorwesi added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rhinos maintains fourth place with 2-3 record, which they share with NC Zebras. Loser Windbreakers still closes the standings with five games lost.
