The biggest surprise took place in Tshwane where host Tshwane S. (1-0) beat league's leader Soweto P. (2-1) 48-39 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Soweto P.. Tshwane S. held Soweto P. to an opponent 17.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 27.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Tshwane S. forced 19 Soweto P. turnovers and outrebounded them 56-39 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Pumla Sathula (175-1984, college: Hamilton) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Chilean Josefina Gomez (-2001) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Tshwane S.'s coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Botswana forward Monicah Tlou (175-1996) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Tshwane S. left bottom position moving up to third place. Soweto P. at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with KZ Marlins. They were replaced at the leadership position by WC Mountaineers. Soweto P. will play next round against strong NC Zebras trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tshwane S. will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Rhinos in Mbombela.

It was a good game for Corinne Moussi who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Talita Memani contributed with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Rachel Ngona replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds for Rhinos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion (2-0) keeps a position of league leader.
