WBNL Round 5: Rhinos lose to Soweto P.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Rhinos (0-1) in Johannesburg on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Soweto P. (2-0) 54-39. Soweto P. held Rhinos to an opponent 20.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 28.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Soweto P. forced 19 Rhinos turnovers. Siphiwe Chitlango stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Danja Lunnemann chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Rachel Ngona responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Soweto P. maintains first place with 2-0 record. Rhinos at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Soweto P. are looking forward to face Tshwane S. (#4) on the road in the next round. Rhinos will play against the league's second-placed WC Mountaineers and hope to get finally their first victory.
WBNL top team - Egoli M. (3-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked NW Eagles (0-4) in Johannesburg 75-39. Katia Matlombe nailed a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Maria Mutengo accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds. Sphila Mdlolo came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds for NW Eagles in the defeat. Egoli M. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 3-0 record. NW Eagles at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
