Spar Gran Canaria (LF Endesa) has signed Astou Ndour, a 29-year-old former Spanish-Senegalese international and 198cm center. This is a return for Ndour to Las Palmas, as she has previously played for the team. Last season, she was the top rebounder for Beretta Famila Schio in the Italian Serie A1, averaging 12.4ppg and 7.8rpg in 25 games. She helped her team win the A1 title and the Supercup, earning recognition as part of the Eurobasket.com Italian A1 All-Bosmans Team, League Player of the Week, and Eurobasket.com All-Italian A1 Second Team. Ndour also played 19 games in the Euroleague, contributing 11.5ppg and 5.9rpg to help her team reach the Euroleague Final Four. In the previous season (2021-22), she played for Umana Reyer Venezia in Italy, participating in three different competitions. In Serie A1, she recorded impressive stats of 15.1ppg, 8.1rpg, and 1.7spg.
In 2014, she was drafted by the San Antonio Silver Stars in the second round, 16th overall, in the WNBA.
She was also part of the Spanish international program for several years. She represented the Spanish Senior National Team from 2015 to 2022 and had previously played for the Under 20 National Team in 2014.
She also represented Spain at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, three years ago. Her statistics at that event were as follows: in 4 games, she scored an average of 21.0 points per game, grabbed an average of 10.3 rpg, had an average of 1.8 spg, blocked an average of 2.0 shots per game (bpg), had a field goal percentage (FGP) of 66.1%, a three-point percentage (3PT) of 10.0%, and a free throw percentage (FT) of 87.5%.
She is a highly experienced player, having played professionally in various countries including Russia (Dynamo Kursk), Turkey (Fenerbahce, Hatay, and Mersin), the WNBA (Dallas Wings, San Antonio Silver Stars, and Chicago Sky), and Spain (Avenida).
In 2016, she was chosen as the Eurobasket.com All-Europeans Center of the Year, receiving numerous awards.
