D1 top team - REG (9-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed sixth ranked RP-IPRC Huye (2-8) in Butare 91-48. REG held RP-IPRC Huye to an opponent 22.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.4 percent accuracy of the winners. REG forced 28 RP-IPRC Huye turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when REG made 10 blocks. It was a good game for Mali center Kankou Coulibaly (187-1990) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds. Mali Kadidia Maiga (185-1997) contributed with 8 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. point guard Stella Dusingizumuremyi (154-2003) replied with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for RP-IPRC Huye. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated REG have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Vivine Mugisha (162-2007) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and Feza Ebengo who added 11 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. The best for the losing side was Aline Uwimana with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The Hoops maintains fourth position with 6-3 record. Gahini at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost.
