D1 Round 11 (Regular Season): GSMRR win their first game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

GSMRR can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Gahini (0-8) 66-62 on Saturday. GSMRR forced 22 Gahini turnovers and outrebounded them 62-44 including a 27-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Janviere Byukusenge who scored 13 points and 25 rebounds. Rachel Gikundiro (169-2006) chipped in 17 points and 11 rebounds. GSMRR's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Uwanziga Angelique produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds for the guests. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. GSMRR maintains seventh place with 1-6 record. It was Gahini's eighth loss in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. GSMRR are looking forward to face league's second-placed APR in Kigali in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gahini will play on the road against The Hoops (#4) in Kigali and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Butare was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Kepler (6-2) played at the court of 6th ranked RP-IPRC Huye (2-7). Kepler defeated RP-IPRC Huye 70-56. DR Congolese center Aichata Traore (185-2005) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. Nelly Nsanzabaganwa contributed with 12 points, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. point guard Stella Dusingizumuremyi (154-2003) answered with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for RP-IPRC Huye. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kepler moved-up to second place, which they share with APR. RP-IPRC Huye lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Kepler's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kigali to the arena .
