Bottom-ranked GSMRR (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 63-46 loss to fourth ranked The Hoops (4-2) in Kigali on Saturday evening. They held GSMRR to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.4 percent accuracy of the winners. The Hoops forced 36 GSMRR turnovers. The best player for the winners was DR Congolese forward Feza Ebengo (185-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Vivine Mugisha (162-2007) chipped in 10 points and 6 assists. The Hoops' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Janviere Byukusenge produced 7 points and 14 rebounds for the guests. The Hoops moved-up to third place, which they share with Kepler. GSMRR at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost.
Bottom-ranked Gahini (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 92-44 loss to second ranked APR (5-2) in Kigali. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The former international point guard Marie Imanizabayo (-1996) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Charlotte Umugwaneza contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Aline Uwimana replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds for Gahini. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. APR maintains second position with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader REG. Gahini at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. APR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gahini will play at home against Azomco (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Butare was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Azomco (3-3) played at the court of 6th ranked RP-IPRC Huye (2-5). Azomco managed to secure a 9-point victory 53-44 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Ishimwe Maruwa who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 6 rebounds. Cecile Nzaramba responded with 6 points and 14 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Azomco maintains fifth position with 3-3 record. Loser RP-IPRC Huye keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Azomco will meet Gahini (#7) on the road in the next round. RP-IPRC Huye will have a break next round.

The best stats of 8th round was 11 points and 6 rebounds by Oliviette Tumukunde of APR.
