Uwiringiyimana number one in Rwanda D1 for round 7 (by Hoops Agents)

Guard Ange Uwiringiyimana (G) put on an amazing game in the last round for Azomco BC, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The player was the main contributor (19 points, nine rebounds) to her team's victory, helping them to crush, the league's bottom-ranked team GSMRR (#8, 0-5) with 22-point margin 64-42. Azomco is placed at 5th position in Rwandan D1. Azomco is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-3 record. Uwiringiyimana just recently signed at Azomco, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Ange Uwiringiyimana averages this season 13.8ppg and 9.5rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was Janviere Byukusenge (SF) of Groups Scolaire Marie Reine Rwaza. Byukusenge had a very good evening with a double-double of 10 points and 21 rebounds. Bad luck as GSMRR lost that game 42-64 to the higher-ranked Azomco (#5, 2-3). GSMRR are still at the very bottom. 5 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Byukusenge is well-known at GSMRR and is a proven leader in her second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was another GSMRR's star - guard Rachel Gikundiro (169-SG-2006). Gikundiro scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). Despite Gikundiro's great performance the Groups Scolaire Marie Reine Rwaza lost 42-64 to the higher-ranked Azomco (#5, 2-3). But her team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. GSMRR can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 5 games. Gikundiro has individually a great season in Rwanda. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 11.6ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 10.0rpg (3rd best).

8. Josephine Uwineza (C) of Azomco - 5 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists
9. Gisele Makenga (SG) of RP-IPRC Huye - 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Nelly Nsanzabaganwa (PG-1995) of Kepler - 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
