Uwitonze's double-double lands her Player of the Week award

Nandy Uwitonze

23-year old center Nandy Uwitonze (C-2002) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's best team REG BBC Kigali and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
She had a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds, while her team outclassed RP-IPRC Huye (#5, 1-3) with 54-point margin 113-59. It allowed REG to consolidate first place in the Rwandan D1. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but REG already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. It's Uwitonze's second year at REG and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Uwitonze has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (5th best: 15.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 11.0rpg) and averages solid 58.3% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Rosine Micomyiza (162-PG-1995) of APR BBC Kigali. She is Ugandan guard in her first season at APR. In the last game Micomyiza recorded an impressive 24 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course she led APR to another comfortable win outscoring GSMRR (#8, 0-4) 94-53. APR's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. Her team's 3-1 record is not bad at all. Micomyiza is one of the most experienced players at APR and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Liliane Ingabire (170-SG-2008) of RP-IPRC Huye (#5). Ingabire showcased her all-around game by recording 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Ingabire's great performance the RP-IPRC Huye lost 59-113 to the league's current leader REG (#1, 4-0). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. RP-IPRC Huye can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-3 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Ingabire has a very solid season. In 4 games in Rwanda she scored 8.8ppg.
