Yamfashije number one in Rwanda D1 for round 14 (by Hoops Agents)

Guard Marie Yamfashije (G-2002) had a great game in the last round for Groups Scolaire Marie Reine Rwaza, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 22-year old player tried to help (26 points, eight rebounds and four assists) her team in a lost game to Azomco (#8, 6-9) 62-71. GSMRR maintains the 5th position in Rwandan D1. GSMRR is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 6th lost game this season out of 13 games. In the team's last game Yamfashije had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range. She has many years of experience at GSMRR, through which she has constantly improved. Marie Yamfashije has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 18.5ppg) and averages impressive 2.9spg.

The second best player in last round's games was another GSMRR's star - Janviere Byukusenge (SF). Byukusenge had a very good evening with a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Groups Scolaire Marie Reine Rwaza lost that game 62-71 to the lower-ranked Azomco (#8, 6-9). GSMRR managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 7-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Byukusenge is a newcomer at GSMRR and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was South Sudanese Nivin Lokuku (2003) of Azomco BC (#8). Lokuku scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Azomco, leading her team to a 71-62 win against the higher-ranked GSMRR (#5, 7-6). Lokuku has a great season in Rwanda. After 12 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.7ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 13.4rpg (4th best). She also has 2.8spg and 1.9bpg.

10. Rachel Gikundiro (169-SG-2006) of GSMRR - 11 points and 9 rebounds
