Maiga number one in Rwanda D1 for round 5

Mali Power forward Kadidia Maiga (185-PF-1997) had a very impressive game in the last round for REG BBC Kigali, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 18 points and 23 rebounds, while her team beat Kepler (#1, 8-0) 71-58. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. REG maintains the 4th position in Rwandan D1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. REG will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. Maiga just recently signed at REG and it was her first game, where she immediately became new team's leader.

The second best player in last round's games was young international center Charlotte Umugwaneza (195-C-1984) of APR BBC Kigali. Umugwaneza had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 19 rebounds. Of course she led APR to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked GSMRR (#9, 1-4) 83-51. Despite this victory APR slide down in the standings to 3rd position. A very good start of the season for her team, which won so far all 5 games without any defeat. Umugwaneza is one of the most experienced players at APR and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.8ppg (#2). She also registered 17.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Ange Uwiringiyimana (G) of East Africa University (#5). Uwiringiyimana scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of EA Univ, leading her team to a 67-64 win against slightly lower-ranked Gahini (#6, 1-3). EA Univ needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Uwiringiyimana has a very solid season. In 5 games in Rwanda she scored 17.2ppg.

9. Beatrice Bamurange (SG) of UR BBC - 11 points and 12 rebounds
10. Angelique Tuyishime (SG-2007) of RP-IPRC Huye - 13 points and 6 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
