RBL Round 23 (Regular Season): REG beat Kepler in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kigali: REG (#3) and Kepler (#4). REG (13-4) crushed visiting Kepler (10-8) by 25 points 98-73. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kepler. REG looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Antino Jackson (182-1996, college: N.Mexico) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. His fellow American import guard Cleveland Thomas (192-1993, college: WKU, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Canadian guard Chad Bowie (188-1996, college: SHSU) produced 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. REG maintains third place with 13-4 record having just three points less than leader APR. Newly promoted Kepler keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. REG's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kigali Patriots.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Kigali: UGB (#7) and Espoir (#5). Espoir was defeated at home 68-79 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. French-Central African power forward Steven-Emile Perriere (203-1995, college: LMU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Espoir Aganze contributed with 18 points and 9 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. UGB's coach Yves Murenzi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International point guard Olivier Turatsinze (185-2001) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds for Espoir. UGB (8-9) moved-up to sixth place. Espoir lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. UGB's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kigali .
