D1 Round 15 (Regular Season): REG defeat GSMRR in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An interesting game for REG (11-1) which played road game in Cyabingo against 3rd placed GSMRR (9-2). Second ranked REG had an easy win 68-49. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of GSMRR. REG dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to GSMRR's 22. REG forced 27 GSMRR turnovers and outrebounded them 54-42 including a 24-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. REG looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by GSMRR's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when REG made 7 blocks. It was a good game for Kenyan center Mercy Wanyama (185-1992) who led her team to a victory with 9 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Linda Uwitonze contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Yvonne Muhawenimana (-2002) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds for GSMRR. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. REG have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-1 record having just one point less than leader APR. GSMRR at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost.
Bottom-ranked UR BBC is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 13th consecutive match to fourth ranked Kepler (8-4) 125-32. It was a great evening for Henriette Uwimpuhwe who led her team to a victory scoring 31 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Gbenakpon Keita helped adding 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Kepler's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Divine Mutembanshushu with 12 points. Newly promoted Kepler maintains fourth place with 8-4 record. UR BBC lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost.
The game in Kigali was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked RP-IPRC Huye (6-5) played at the court of 6th ranked The Hoops (4-6). RP-IPRC Huye managed to secure a 4-point victory 66-62 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of The Hoops. It was an exceptional evening for Nicole Urwibutso who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. RP-IPRC Huye's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Jane Dusabe came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for The Hoops in the defeat. RP-IPRC Huye maintains fifth place with 6-5 record. Loser The Hoops dropped to the seventh position with six games lost.

In the last game of round 15 APR beat Gahini on the road 71-57.

Guard Ange Umuhamya (164-2003) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four RP-IPRC Huye players scored in double figures. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Taylor Hosendove (188, college: Oregon) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center Assouma Uwizeye (182-1996) accounted for 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Josephine Uwineza came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and Josiane Ishimwe added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Gahini in the defeat. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for APR. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Loser Gahini dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost.
