The game had a very big importance for second-ranked REG as it allowed them to take a leadership position. REG smashed bottom-ranked UR BBC in Kigali 115-25. REG held UR BBC to an opponent 14.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.5 percent accuracy of the winners. REG forced 42 UR BBC turnovers and outrebounded them 83-47 including a 50-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. REG looked well-organized offensively handing out 40 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by UR BBC's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when REG made 8 blocks. It was a good game for international Sandrine Mushikiwabo (182-1995) who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Marie Utamuliza (-1999) contributed with 8 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. REG's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Albright Mugabekazi replied with 4 points and 11 rebounds for UR BBC. REG (11-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. UR BBC at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost.
