Rwanda U18 girls’ team started their FIBA U18 Zone V AfroBasket qualifying campaign on a low note following Sunday’s 40-78 humbling at the hands of hosts Uganda at Lugogo Indoor Stadium. Jacques Bahige ’s side looked promising when they won the opening quarter 14-11 but Uganda quickly bounced back with energy to claim three remaining quarters 31-13, 14-13 and 22-0 to comfortably bag their first victory before their home supporters. Brigitte Nibishaka (F-2003) grabbed 20 points 7 rebounds, while Rebecca Cyuzuzo (2007) added 5 points. On the hosts’ side, Resty Nanangwe put up a best-player-of-the-game performance with a game high 24 points. Rwanda will be looking to bounce back from the defeat when they take on Tanzania on Monday, June 19.
