RBL Round 8 (Regular Season): Patriots keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Patriots as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Patriots smashed bottom-ranked Inspired Gen. at home 93-45. Patriots forced 29 Inspired Gen. turnovers and outrebounded them 46-27 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Patriots looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Inspired Gen.'s players. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Kenny Gasana (195-1984, college: Boise St.) who scored 8 points and 9 assists. Betoudji Kamndoh chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. Patriots' coach Henry Mwinuka felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Patrick Rugamba produced 19 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Undefeated Patriots (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Inspired Gen. still closes the standings with eight games lost.

REG's coach Charles Mushumba tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains second position with 8-1 record having just one point less than leader Patriots. REG at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost.
A very close game took place in between REG and Kepler. Third ranked REG (6-2) got a very close victory on the road over one of their biggest challengers Kepler (4-4). REG managed to escape with a 3-point win 89-86 in the fight for the third place. Worth to mention a great performance of Antino Jackson who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Chad Bowie responded with 29 points and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. REG maintains third position with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader Patriots. Newly promoted Kepler keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Tigers.

In the last game of round 8 Tigers defeated Orion in a road game 74-64.
The best stats of 8th round was 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks by Pitchou Kambuyi of REG.



APR - REG 78-75

Orion - Tigers 64-74

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Orion (1-5) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Tigers (4-4) 74-64 on Saturday. Tigers outrebounded Orion 58-40 including 21 on the offensive glass. Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian power forward Francis Azolibe (206-1999) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 20 rebounds and Patrick Nshizirungu (194-1999) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. American guard Elias Ezenekwe (193, college: Antelope Valley) responded with 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import David Atkinson (203-1991, college: Salem) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tigers moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kepler. Loser Orion keeps the eighth position with five games lost.

REG looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when REG made 11 blocks.
