John Egbunu (ex ASVEL) is a newcomer at Rockets

Ningbo Rockets (CBA) have added 29-year-old Nigerian ex-international center John Egbunu to their roster. Egbunu, who stands at 211cm and weighs 120kg, previously played for LDLC ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket in the French Betclic ELITE ProA, where he averaged 2.9ppg and 2.7rpg in 15 games. He also played 19 games in the Euroleague, averaging 2.9ppg and 2.5rpg. Last season, he played for Gaziantep Basketbol in the Turkish league. Egbunu was a member of the Nigerian Senior National Team in 2020.
He is a very experienced player. Thanks to Egbunu's pro career, he has played on three different continents (Europe, Asia, and North America) in eight different countries. He has played professionally in Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem), Italy (Openjobmetis Varese), Turkey, NBA (Brooklyn Nets), South Korea (Sonicboom), NBA G League (Long Island Nets), and NBA Summer League (Minnesota Timberwolves).
His team won the Turkish U19 League Group A Regular Season in 2023.
He graduated from the University of Florida in 2018 and is in his sixth season as a professional player. He also played for the University of South Florida for one year.
