Gani Lawal (ex Runa Basket) agreed terms with Plateros- August 19, 2023
The previous (2022) summer he was tested by Trotamundos (SPB) in Venezuelan league. In 2010 he was drafted by Phoenix Suns (NBA) in second round (46th overall). Lawal graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology and it will be his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball. He was a member of Nigerian Senior National Team back in 2013. Lawal is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in sixteen different countries. He has played previously professionally in Argentina (San Lorenzo), China, France (Chalons Reims), Greece (Panathinaikos), Iran (Petrochimi), Italy (Cantu and Sassari), Japan (Fukuoka Rizing and Shiga L-Stars), Latvia (VEF Riga), Philippines (Meralco Bolts), Poland, Qatar (Al Rayyan), Slovenia (Krka), Turkey (Trabzonspor and Karesi Spor), NBA (Philadelphia 76ers), Dominican Republic (Metros) and NBA G League (Stockton Kings, Delaware Blue Coats and Westchester Knicks). Among many awards he won Liga Americas championship title in 2018. Lawal was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese B League Honorable Mention back in 2019.
