Chinemelu Elonu

Al Zamalek (Superleague) inked experienced 34-year old American (has also Nigerian passport) power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206cm-107kg-87, college: Texas A&M) To Play With The Team On BAL . He played last summer at Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 13 games he recorded 14.5ppg, 9.6rpg (#4 in the league), 1.4apg and 1.5bpg. Great season indeed as he was awarded Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Defensive Player of the Year, Center of the Year and voted to 1st Team.
In 2009 Elonu was drafted by Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) in second round (59th overall). He attended Texas A&M University and it will be his 13th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
He is a very experienced player. Elonu has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). Elonu has played previously professionally in China (Monkey Kings), France (Pau Lacq Orthez), Greece (Panionios and AEK Athens), Italy (Reggio Emilia), Spain (Zaragoza) and Turkey (Tofas and Besiktas).
Elonu won Puerto Rican BSN championship title in 2018.
His game is described as: a long athletic mobile high energy 4/5 that is a terrific rebounder and shot blocker. Chinemelu is also a rapidly developing offensive player able to score efficiently in the post as well as face up and pick and pop on the perimeter. Shoots a very high FG percentage.
