Sira Thienou will continue her college career at Auburn

Auburn University landed 22-year old Mali international 6-1 guard Sira Thienou for the new season. She is the second import player in the roster as Dutch Phoenix Stotijn signed here earlier. Bamako (Mali) native played for the last two years at The University of Mississippi. In 29 games last season she averaged 9.7ppg, 5.7rpg, 2.3apg, and 1.7spg. She helped her team make it to the SEC Tournament Semifinals in 2026. Her team played in the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2025. Thienou was also voted to SEC All-Freshman Team that year.
She also played at CRBT in 2023.
Thienou has been a member of the Mali international program for some years. She has regularly played for the Mali senior team since 2024 and previously for the Under 18 National Team in 2022.
Thienou represented Mali at the FIBA World Cup U19 for Women in Spain three years ago. Her team won Gold and she averaged over 15 points per game.
Among many awards, she was also selected to Afrobasket.com All-FIBA Afrobasket Honorable Mention in 2025.
