Mali - Uganda 80:66

Mali overcame Uganda 80-66 in Kigali at the start of the AfroBasket 2023. Trailing 16-19 at the end of the first period, Mali replied with a 21-14 run as Fatoumata Sanou (160-PG-2004) nailed three for a 37-33 halftime advantage. Mali continued their dominance in the second half and posted two more wins.
Djeneba N'Diaye (175-PG-1997) top-scored for the winners with 25 points and Fatoumata Sanou delivered 15. Alima Dembele scored 9, whilst Mariam Coulibaly (192-C-1997, agency: Areus Sports) and Salimatou Kourouma (180-F-1999) had 8 each. Jannon Otto (183-G-1997, college: UC Riverside) replied with 19 points in the losing effort, whilst Brenda Ekone (152-G-1996) netted 12.
