Al Wahda tabs Oumar Barry

Oumar Barry

Defending champion Al Wahda Damascus (SBL) signed 29-year-old Guinean international 211cm center Oumar Barry (college: SJSU). He was the top rebounder at Darbandkhan in the Iraqi Superleague last season, averaging an impressive 17.8ppg, 9.8rpg, 2.0apg, and 1.0bpg in four games. Barry also played for Kriol Star (Praia League) in the Cape Verdean league. He has been regularly called up to the Guinean Senior National Team since 2022.
He is a very experienced player. Barry has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to six different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and of course North America). He has played professionally in Bahrain (Issa Town), Iran (Sanaye), Saudi Arabia (Deba), Spain (Cornella) and Guinea (Seydou Legacy Athletique Club Conakry).
Barry graduated from San Jose State University in 2019 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball. He played for other colleges between Iowa Western Community College and De Paul University.
