Phoenix Suns (NBA) added to their roster 27-year old Guinean forward Mamadi Diakite (6'9''-227lbs-1997, college: Virginia). He is the second foreign player in the roster as Bosnia and Herzegovina Jusuf Nurkic signed here earlier.
He was about to sign at Memphis Grizzlies. The last season season he played at another NBA team the Knicks. But in 7 NBA games he recorded just 0.3ppg. He helped them to make it to the conference semifinals. He also played for another NBA team the Spurs earlier that season. The other team he played shortly was Spurs. Another team he played briefly was another NBA G League team Knicks.
Diakite has never been drafted by the NBA.
He has played previously for eight other NBA teams: Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, OKC Thunder, Austin Spurs, Cleveland Charge, Westchester Knicks, Osceola Magic and Milwaukee Bucks.
Among many awards he won NBA championship title in 2021. Diakite was voted to USBasket.com NBA G League All-Defensive Team back in 2021.
He graduated from University of Virginia in 2020 and it is his fifth season as a professional player.
