Guinea opened 2023 FIBA AfroCan Qualifiers with the narrow win against Nigeria. They posted a 65-62 win on Friday night. Nigeria started the game with a 20-14 run, whilst Guinea replied with a 22-11 surge in the second period. Nigeria once again won the third quarter 18-13 to tie it all, however could not win the opener. Guinea replied with a 16-13 rally in the last stanza for the final success. Ibrahima Doumbouya (198-SF, agency: Blacktop Management) top-scored for the winners with 20 points, while Alseny Bah (195-C-2001) and Cheick Conde added 13 each. Ibe Agu (201-G-1997) replied with 13 points in a loss and Micheal Afuwape (185-PG-1998) scored 12.
