Nigeria improved at 3-3 record in 2023 World Cup African Qualifiers Group E. They held off Guinea in Abidjan. Amaze Egekeze (203-F-1995, college: Belmont) came up with 14 points to lead the winners.
Nigeria sank 24 points in the first period to take a 9-point lead. They controlled the tempo throughout the second frame. Nigeria enjoyed a 9-point advantage at the interval. They went on a strong 32-15 rally in the third period to open a comfortable lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Chimezie Metu (211-F/C-1997, college: USC) provided 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Daouda Diaby (186-PG-2000) replied with 17 points for Guinea.
