The Georgia Panthers signed 41-year-old Ben Njie, a 6-4 forward from Gambia who holds dual citizenship. Njie, who played college basketball at Auburn, most recently played for Immortals in the LDC league in the Dominican Republic.
He is a very experienced player, thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in six different countries playing on three different continents. Njie is familiar with European, Latin American, and of course North American leagues. He has played professionally in the Dominican Republic, Mexico (Correcaminos), SEBL (Metro Tech), UBA (GIE Maile M., Tennessee Dragons, and Houston AS), Belize (Belize), and Spain (Real). Njie won the United Cup Superion championship title in 2025.
Among many awards, he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-United Cup Honorable Mention in 2024. He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Panthers.
He attended Auburn University until 2000 and it'll be his 26th season in pro basketball.
