Fiba Committed to Support Gambian Basketball

The visiting International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Sports Director, Lubomir Kotlema, has said that his mission in the country is to assess the state of the game in The Gambia with a view to mapping out a way forward for the game's development. He was speaking at a press conference on Friday held at The Gambia National Olympic Committee hall in Kanifing. Kotlema, who expressed the international body's commitment to help develop the game in The Gambia, said he would report back the results of his findings to the Secretary General of FIFA for necessary action. He has held series of meetings with relevant stakeholders and said he was quite impressed with what he had seen. He also thanked The Gambia Basketball Association for the tremendous work despite the limited resources. Papa Njie, President of The Gambia Basketball Association, expressed gratitude to Kotlema for the visit and the promise to support basketball development. "His mission will also help FIBA in formulating strategies for national federations' development," he concluded.
