Sporting Crowned Egypt Women's Basketball Super League Champions-May 12, 2026
Sporting were crowned champions of the 2025–2026 Egypt Women's Basketball Super League after defeating Al Ahly 79–69 in Game 3 of the finals series at Borg El Arab Hall in Alexandria.

With the victory, Sporting completed a clean sweep of the championship series, securing the title after winning all three games in the best-of-five finals.

Sporting made a strong start, taking the first quarter 19–9, before Al Ahly fought back to claim a 39–33 halftime lead.

However, Sporting regained control in the third quarter, moving ahead 56–53, before closing out the game with a decisive 79–69 victory.

Run Sporting had opened the series with an 84–67 win in Game 1, followed by a 72–59 victory in Game 2, before sealing the championship with their third consecutive triumph.

The finals were played under a best-of-five format, with the first team to secure three victories crowned league champions.

Raneem Elgedawy, power forward from the finalist team Al Ahly Cairo, was named the Player of the Year at the Egypt. She graduated from the Western Kentucky five years ago. Elgedawy received multiple other awards, was voted the Forward of the Year and was selected to the First Team. With Elgedawy's excellent performance, the finalist team Al Ahly Cairo achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 12 to 1 in the regular season. Her best performance made her team reach the finals but they unfortunately lost against Alexandria 0 to 3. Elgedawy's consistent performance as a playmaker earned her the fourth ranked in rebounds per game, showcasing average of over 11. She was the Player of the Week honoree twice during the 25 26 campaign. Elgedawy led the Egypt in points per game with over 21. She has totalled 6 games of 20 or more points on the year and recorded 30 or more points in 3 games. Elgedawy registered double-doubles in 10 games at the event. She Is the UNCG alumna from 2020. Soliman was also named to the First Team. Her best performance made her team reach the finals but they unfortunately lost against Alexandria 0 to 3. Soliman was voted Player of the Week twice during the 25 26 campaign. She orchestrated her way to the fifth spot in points per game, showcasing a dazzling average of over 16. Soliman also averaged almost 9 rebounds per game in the league. She has totalled 4 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 8 games on the year. Soliman's 33 points against Alexandria were the most she scored in the 25 26 season. The standout forward Hala El-Shaarawy earned a spot in the First Team of the championship-winning the Alexandria. Sporting were crowned champions of the Egypt Women’s Basketball Cup after defeating arch-rivals Al Ahly 82–70 in the final held at Dr. Hassan Mostafa Hall in 6th of October City.

Al Ahly started strongly, taking the first quarter 25–20 and extending their lead to 41–35 at halftime.

However, Sporting mounted an impressive comeback in the third quarter, overturning the deficit to lead 58–54, before pulling away in the final period to secure an 82–70 victory and lift the title.

Heliopolis claimed the bronze medal after defeating Al Gezira 69–65 in the third-place playoff held earlier at the same venue.

Sporting reached the final after a dominant 96–70 win over Heliopolis in the semi-finals, while Al Ahly advanced with an 84–68 victory over Al Gezira.

Sporting’s comeback performance highlighted their resilience and determination, sealing a memorable triumph over their biggest rivals

Sporting Club Women claimed the Egyptian Super Cup after a thrilling 68–63 victory over Al Ahly in a hard-fought final. The championship clash was a true battle of giants, with both teams trading blows until the final moments. Sporting Club showed incredible heart, discipline, and resilience when it mattered most.
Lyndsey Whilby (180-F-1999, college: KSU) came up with 26 points, while Hala Moustafa added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Nadine Salawi answered with 23 points, while Miral Ashraf) had 13 points in the losing case.
