Real Betis Sevilla (Primera FEB) has agreed terms with 28-year-old DR Congolese ex-international forward Jonathan Kasibabu (203cm-109kg-1996, college: Fairfield) for the upcoming 2024-25 season. He is the second foreign player in the roster, with Serbian Aleksandar Cvetkovic signing earlier. Kasibabu will remain in Spain, where he played last season at Longevida San Pablo Burgos. In 38 Primera FEB games in Spain, he averaged 4.3ppg and 4.0rpg, helping the team reach the semifinals. In the previous 2022-23 season, he played for another Spanish team, Zunder Palencia (Liga Endesa), and also had a stint with Breogan Lugo (Liga Endesa).
Three years ago (two years after his graduation) he was drafted by Austin Spurs (G-League) in the first round (14th overall).
Kasibabu graduated from Fairfield University in 2019 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball. He was a member of DR Congolese Senior National Team between 2018 and 2022.
Kasibabu has played previously professionally in France (Nantes) and the NBA G League (Long Island Nets).
He played in the final of the MAAC Tournament in 2018. He was also voted the All-MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.
