Movistar Estudiantes Madrid (LEB Gold) signed 19-year old Congolese center Yannick Nzosa (211cm-91kg-2003) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Nzosa played last season at Real Betis in Spanish LEB Gold. Liga Endesa was a little too high level for him, where in only one Liga Endesa game he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound and 1 steal. LEB Gold will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. He also spent pre-season at the Wizards in NBA.
Last year he was drafted by Washington Wizards (NBA) in second round (54th overall).
Nzosa has played previously professionally also in Italy (Roseto and RO SAzzurra) and Spain (Unicaja, Unicaja-Andalucia and Unicaja).
He played in the final of Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Valencia in 2020.
Nzosa could be described: Mobile, highly instinctive big man. Raw but versatile defender that excels at accruing deflections using size, length and agility in passing lanes. Needs to add weight to light frame and improve hands/catching. Possesses some upside as straight line dribbler/driver and faceup scorer. Potential top 5-10 NBA Draft pick in 2022.
