Brescia keeps Akele for another season

Germani Brescia Leonessa (Serie A) re-signed 27-year old Italian-DR Congolese international 203cm forward Nicola Akele (college: URI) for new season. Akele played there last season. In 30 Serie A games he averaged just 2.9ppg and 2.4rpg. He helped them to win the cup. Akele also played 19 games in Eurocup where he had 3.8ppg and 2.8rpg.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Nutribullet Treviso Basket. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 27 Serie A games he recorded 5.5ppg and 4.2rpg in that year. He also played 16 games in Basketball Champions League where he got 7.6ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.4apg in that year.
Akele has been also a member of Italian international program for some years. He has regularly played for Italian senior team since 2020 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2013.
Akele represented Italy at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 in Lignano Sabbiadoro (Italy) eight years ago.
He has played previously for two other teams: Roseto and Vanoli Cremona.
Akele graduated from University of Rhode Island in 2018 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball.
