Brindisi tabs Ivan Almeida

Happy Casa Brindisi (Serie A2) inked experienced 35-year old Cape Verdean-Portuguese 197cm small forward Ivan Almeida (college: Stonehill). He was about to sign at Ahly Tripoli in Libyan D1 league, but the plans were changed. He also played for Sporting Clube de Portugal Lisboa (Liga Betclic) in Portugal.
Almeida represented Cape Verde at the FIBA World Cup in Philippines-Japan-Indonesia last year. During this event he scored an average of 11.6 points per game and had 4.4 rebounds per game.
He is a very experienced player. Almeida has played also professionally in France (Cholet Basket, Chorale de Roanne and Lille), Israel (Ironi Nahariya), Latvia, Poland (Anwil), Portugal (Benfica and Galitos-Barreiro), Estonia (Kalev/Cramo), Czech Republic (Nymburk), Italy (Treviso) and The Basketball Tournament (The Cru).
Among many awards he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Polish League Forward of the Year back in 2019.
He graduated from Stonehill College in 2012 and it is his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season in pro basketball. Almeida played also for Mohawk Valley Community College for one year.
