Tavares re-signs at Real Madrid

Real Madrid (Liga Endesa) confirmed in their roster 32-year old double-passport holder Cape Verdean center Edy Tavares (220cm-118kg-1992) for the upcoming 2024-25 season. He has played there for the last seven seasons. He helped them to win the Spanish Cup (Copa del Rey) last season. Tavares played 34 games in Euroleague where he had 9.4ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.4apg, and 1.5bpg. He contributed to his team winning the regular season and making it to the final. In 2023-24, he was named to Eurobasket.com Euroleague All-Imports Team, League Player of the Week, and Eurobasket.com All-Euroleague Second Team.
In 2014, he was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks (NBA) in the second round (43rd overall).
Tavares represented Cape Verde at the FIBA World Cup in Philippines-Japan-Indonesia last year. During this event, he scored an average of 9.2 ppg and had 12.4 rpg.
He has also played professionally in the USA, NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers), and NBA G League (Austin Spurs, Cleveland Charge, and Raptors 905 Mississauga).
Among many awards, he was also voted Eurobasket.com All-Spanish Liga Endesa Player of the Year in 2023.
