Regular Season Round 9: REG - Espoir 71-88

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kigali:Espoir (#5) and REG (#3). REG was crushed at home by 17 points 71-88 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Espoir made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 28 REG turnovers. International point guard Olivier Turatsinze (185-2001) nailed 36 points (!!!) for the winning side and Chadian forward Ronald Nato (199-1992) accounted for 23 points and 6 rebounds. DR Congolese center Pitchou Kambuyi (208-1988) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and Benjamin Mukengerwa added 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals respectively for REG in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. REG's coach Charles Mushumba rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Espoir (5-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tigers. Loser REG keeps the third position with three games lost.
