Regular Season Round 5: REG - GSMRR 89-60

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeatedGSMRR (4-1) on the court of leader REG on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by REG 89-60 . It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of GSMRR. It was a key game for the top position in the league. REG dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to GSMRR 's 42. REG forced 19 GSMRR turnovers and outrebounded them 59-46 including 21 on the offensive glass. REG looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by GSMRR 's players. The former international point guard Rosine Micomyiza (-1995) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 7 assists. International Sandrine Mushikiwabo (182-1995) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four REG players scored in double figures. Forward Brigitte Nibishaka (-2003) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 25 rebounds and guard Marie Yamfashije (-2002) added 16 points in the effort for GSMRR. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. REG (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with APR. GSMRR at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with RP-IPRC Huye.
