Regular Season Round 28: A1 Challenge - KCCA Leopards 60-66
Date: August 27, 2023
Another interesting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Kampala: KCCA Leopards (#3) and A1 Challenge (#9). Despite it looked like an easy game for KCCA Leopards, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host A1 Challenge challenged much higher ranked KCCA Leopards giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by six points 66-60. KCCA Leopards outrebounded A1 Challenge 49-33 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Susan Aanyu (-1992) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds and forward Slyvester Kazibwe (-1990) who added 10 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. KCCA Leopards' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Vivian Lusamamba responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Kenyan Elizabeth Okumu scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. KCCA Leopards (17-4) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser A1 Challenge keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
