Regular Season Round 21: Angels - KCCA Leopards 40-76

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: KCCA Leopards (#6) and Angels (#11). Angels were crushed at home by 36 points 40-76 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. KCCA Leopards held Angels to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.8 percent accuracy of the winners. KCCA Leopards forced 21 Angels turnovers and outrebounded them 53-31 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Angels' players. Guard Leanne Nalunkuma (-1990) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and guard Susan Aanyu (-1992) accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four KCCA Leopards players scored in double figures. Grace Kwarisiima (-1987) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Catherine Amugusut (-1983) added 6 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Angels in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for KCCA Leopards. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with KIU Rangers. Angels lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 15 games lost. KCCA Leopards' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Nkumba LM.
