Date: July 15, 2023
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: UCU Ladies (#5) and Kampala Uni (#8). Kampala Uni was smashed at home by 26 points 42-68 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. UCU Ladies dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kampala Uni's 30. UCU Ladies forced 25 Kampala Uni turnovers and outrebounded them 55-43 including 19 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Tracy Namugosa who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Bridget Aber (-2001) who added 14 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Mercy Batamuliza responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 19 rebounds and Orlando Marion scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UCU Ladies have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion (11-3) moved-up to third place. Kampala Uni lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. UCU Ladies' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala Nkumba LM.
