Regular Season Round 20: KIU Rangers - JKL Dolphins 55-77

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: JKL Dolphins (#2) and KIU Rangers (#3). KIU Rangers were smashed at home by 22 points 55-77 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of KIU Rangers. JKL Dolphins forced 19 KIU Rangers turnovers and outrebounded them 52-36 including 37 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The former international power forward Hope Akello (183-1997) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international guard Ritah Imanishimwe (173-1996) contributed with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. JKL Dolphins' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Perus Nyamwenge replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Mary Amaniyo (180-2003) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for KIU Rangers. JKL Dolphins (12-2) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position having seven points less than leader JTL Jaguars. KIU Rangers at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. JKL Dolphins' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Nabisunsa.
