Regular Season Round 20: UCU Canons - Blazers 47-66

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: Blazers (#2) and UCU Canons (#4). UCU Canons were smashed at home by 19 points 47-66 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Blazers forced 20 UCU Canons turnovers. Strangely UCU Canons outrebounded Blazers 60-46 including 20 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by UCU Canons' players. Rwandan center Micheal Makiadi (-1989) orchestrated the victory by scoring 6 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists. Peter Cheng contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Kayiira Joel (-2001) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds and guard Ibanda Lwabaga (-1998) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for UCU Canons. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Blazers (15-4) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position having just four point less than leader City Oilers. UCU Canons lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with eight games lost. Blazers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena .
