Regular Season Round 19: JTL Jaguars - A1 Challenge 68-46
Date: July 9, 2023
Not a big story in a game in Kampala where 9th ranked A1 Challenge (4-12) was rolled over by first ranked JTL Jaguars (14-3) 68-46 on Sunday. JTL Jaguars held A1 Challenge to an opponent 23.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.4 percent accuracy of the winners. JTL Jaguars forced 22 A1 Challenge turnovers and outrebounded them 55-42 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Sarah Ageno (176) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Guard Maimuna Nabbosa (-1999) chipped in 5 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Kenyan Elizabeth Okumu produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Angole Maria added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for JTL Jaguars. Newly promoted JTL Jaguars maintains first place with 14-3 record. Loser A1 Challenge keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. JTL Jaguars' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Miracle.
