Regular Season Round 17: KIU Rangers - KCCA Leopards 70-56

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: KIU Rangers (#3) and KCCA Leopards (#6). KIU Rangers (10-3) won against visiting KCCA Leopards (8-4) 70-56. KIU Rangers forced 25 KCCA Leopards turnovers. The best player for the winners was Mary Amaniyo (180-2003) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Racheal Nanyonga chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Martha Soigi (185-1986) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and guard Susan Aanyu (-1992) added 12 points and 13 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KIU Rangers have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-3 record having 2 victories less than leader JTL Jaguars. KCCA Leopards at the other side keep the sixth position with four games lost. KIU Rangers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala Miracle.
