Regular Season Round 11: Kampala R. - UCU Canons 69-74

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: UCU Canons (#3) and Kampala R. (#11). Despite it looked like an easy game for UCU Canons, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host Kampala R. challenged much higher ranked UCU Canons giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 74-69. UCU Canons forced 22 Kampala R. turnovers and had a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for center Peter Sifuma (-1996) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Ibanda Lwabaga (-1998) helped adding 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Okumu Emmanuel (-1997) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Francis Kasinde scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for UCU Canons. They maintain third place with 6-3 record having five points less than leader City Oilers. Newly promoted Kampala R. dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. UCU Canons' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala .
