Regular Season Round 5: Magic Stormers - KIU Rangers 37-61

There was an upset in Kampala where second-ranked Magic Stormers (3-1) were rolled over by ninth ranked KIU Rangers (2-2) 61-37 on Monday. KIU Rangers held Magic Stormers to an opponent 18.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.1 percent accuracy of the winners. KIU Rangers forced 36 Magic Stormers turnovers. Forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) stepped up and scored 13 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and Nanyonga Florence chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Kur Ajah responded with 9 points and 13 rebounds and guard Christine Nakito scored 4 points and 16 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KIU Rangers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Miracle and Kampala Uni. Loser Magic Stormers dropped to the third position with one game lost. KIU Rangers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala UCU Ladies.
