Regular Season Round 15: A1 Challenge - KIU Rangers 43-76

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: KIU Rangers (#4) and A1 Challenge (#8). A1 Challenge was crushed at home by 33 points 43-76 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. KIU Rangers held A1 Challenge to an opponent 21.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.7 percent accuracy of the winners. KIU Rangers forced 27 A1 Challenge turnovers and outrebounded them 58-40 including a 43-31 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds. Guard Ninette Uwineza chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Four KIU Rangers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Kekimuli Cathy who recorded 7 points and 15 rebounds and guard Patience Nakalembe (-1995) added 3 points and 10 rebounds respectively. A1 Challenge's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. KIU Rangers maintains fourth place with 12-4 record. A1 Challenge lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. KIU Rangers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. A1 Challenge's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala UCU Ladies.
