Regular Season Round 13: JKL Dolphins - KCCA Leopards 76-53

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Kampala: JKL Dolphins (#1) and KCCA Leopards (#2). JKL Dolphins (15-0) crushed visiting KCCA Leopards (11-4) by 23 points 76-53. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KCCA Leopards. JKL Dolphins forced 33 KCCA Leopards turnovers and outrebounded them 52-40 including 17 on the offensive glass. The former international power forward Hope Akello (183-1997) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and Kenyan center Taudencia Oluoch (189-1995, college: ACU) chipped in 16 points and 14 rebounds. Four JKL Dolphins players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Slyvester Kazibwe (-1990) responded with 4 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and the former international center Martha Soigi (185-1986) scored 5 points and 11 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifteenth consecutive win for JKL Dolphins. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-0 record. KCCA Leopards at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. JKL Dolphins' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala Miracle.
