Regular Season Round 10: KIU Rangers - Nkumba LM 83-51

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked KIU Rangers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. KIU Rangers smashed 10th ranked Nkumba LM in Kampala 83-51. KIU Rangers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Nkumba LM's 36. KIU Rangers forced 31 Nkumba LM turnovers and outrebounded them 49-34 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Perus Nyamwenge fired 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Ines Kanyamunza chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. KIU Rangers' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Shadia Mbwali (170-2001) produced 21 points and 8 rebounds and guard Patience Mauso (-2000) added 10 points respectively for lost side. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Nkumba LM lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Nkumba LM will play next round against Magic Stormers trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena of Magic Stormers. KIU Rangers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
